Yukiko (indoor stage)…….”We were so pleased by the high number of visitors attending both days! Personally i was in a great position to enjoy watching all the wonderful performances taking place on the Indoor Stage! I hope VOL32 will be even bigger and better!”

Daisuke ….”I saw so many amazing artists i was inspired to be more creative in my own art!”

Benny……”So many creative artists and lots of happy visitors! It was lovely talking to them!”

Same (Mini Theatre) …….”Fantastic fun viewing the very original films and of course getting to meet the people making them! Let’s all make VOL32 fantastic too!”

Yimei……”Really great performances, lots of visitors! The time passed so fast, I can’t wait for the next one!”

Stephen……..It’s magical to be able to regularly throw such an event, I’ve never been a part of anything like this before and i’m always looking forward to the next one!”

Sally……”Fun! Awesome! I bought some great fashion & accessory items…I was also pleased to see so many of our Gallery artists exhibiting at the event and i’m looking forward to meeting many more at the next Design Festa, come and join us!”

DF Cafe staff Danno….”My first Design Festa event…..tanoshkatta! , everything was great! especially the live stage!”

DF Cafe Isop……”I was impressed by seeing so many types of art and of course my band 6T01 and i really grooved on the fantastic live stage energy! It was our first time to play at Design Festa!”

Kozue…..”I’ve attended the event twice before but this was my first time to experience it as a staff member….and it was just great to be able to meet and talk to so many creative people!”

Kenny (restaurant/live stage manager) “As i’ve said previously Design Festa thrives on change and i know that the changes we brought to the live stage  for this event increased the level of enjoyment for bands and visitors both! As a relatively new staff member i am now starting to understand just how much fun there is to be had at this crazy event!”

Nica….”I loved the Ghana cuisine and was so pleasantly surprised to find this type of food and ambiance here in Japan! as for the event? great weather, great people and great art!”

Ryo……”Having had record numbers of visitors and artists we are all so pleased ! the new outdoor live stage ROCKED! i was so happy to meet so many old friends again!”

Nao…..”I enjoyed the craft section very much and bought a beautiful ring from artist Torico, I love her style! Also i made it out to the live stage for my first time WOW! I can’t wait for VOL32!”

Yaoki….”I want to thank all our amazing volunteer staff for their incredibly hard work!”

Ken……”this was my very first event! I met so many talented people….it was a sensory overload!”

Panda…….”I really enjoyed the communication with artists and visitors from so many countries!”

Madoka….”Incredible! My mother exhibited her cute soft cat objet and sold 7!”

Toshie….”I was really knocked out by the high level of Korean art there!”

Hatobo……”Simply the best event we’ve had so far! I really liked artist Hama’s huge live painting and would like to thank him for kindly donating his artwork for VOL31’s pamphlets”

Yusuke….”This event made dreams come true! I’m looking forward to seeing more inspirational art at VOL32!”

DF Director Takeshi…..”What made Design Festa VOL31 such a success was the fact that the event itself could generate such a high level of original art….I’m deeply appreciative that all the artists and visitors attending had such a deep feeling for the event as a whole, Thank You all so much and see you next time!”

artist Mar who is well known for his vivid murals around the gallery at the start of the day………..but when the kids found him things got quickly out of hand!…….

from Okinawa…..THE VACANCES (whom i tried to interview but the singer seemed to think that i was Bruce Willis for some reason so it never got further than our fighting for an autograph from each other!) anyway this band captivated their large audience with their own inimitable style of sing-a-long punkabilly anthems……an amazing frontman who at times reminded me of the late great Lee Brilleaux (Dr. Feelgood)

whose Berlinesque style both bemused and enamoured the audience……..this band are going places!

playing tracks from their new (and 6th) album “10 Spyglasses” and offering the many gaijin watching their performance a taste of J-Cyberpunk, PSYDOLL created the perfect atmosphere  for the later bands to follow……..for more info check out http://www.psydoll.com

Psydoll have an impressive tour history under their belt with tours in Canada (2001), Beyond The Veil (Leeds UK 2003) and other gigs in Aberdeen Scotland!

it’s 1538 DF time and as volume 31 chuggs along, art in all its guises continues to be born. fashion continues its march down the runway, illustration jumps off pages, food and drink are being cosumed in copious amounts, music belches from speakers,  and the crowd keeps coming and going…. but where are you?

there is still time to Yurikamome your ass over here and get your hardon…..ummmm – art on!

They are planning to screen the world cup games as Ghana is participating and they plan a party as well.
