Today and tomorrow, artist J. Kiku Langford is having her exhibition at WEST 1-A. Her exhibition concept is ‘h*ART*ajukuXchange’ and to communicate with people from different countries (she is from the US) through art exchanging. When I came in her room, she has already got so many pieces that she exchanged with other gallery exhibitors and visitors. The pictures below are when she was talking and exchanging a piece with Korean visitors. So why don’t you bring your small piece of art or just make one at the gallery and have an international art communication with her?!

We had a guest from Mexico today! Lisnder is a art college student in Mexico and now she is visting Japan to do some research for her theses. She found about Design Festa through one of her favorite artist in NY, who exhibit at Design Festa last May. She asked many good quesions so that our boss had to think for a while to answer them… She really likes Japanese art and looks like she loved Design Festa, too. Thank you for coming all the way from Mexico and we hope you have a great time in Japan! Hasta luego!

Tomomi Miyahara’s exhibition is in 1A until Sunday. An interesting arrangement of black and white pen drawings lovingly rendered in seductive patterns alongside Polaroid photos and paintings. Her bag head lady (s) are a motif repeated throughout. Check it!

Finishing up today in WEST 2-C is an enchanting collaborative exhibition between two friends. The unlikely combination of mushrooms and pigs somehow fits together beautifully, and the whole experience is quite refreshing. The exhibition is based on a story book they wrote together. For those of you who are wondering, the mushrooms are coming out of the pig’s nose, not going into the nose. I checked on that with the artists…

Design Festa is known for showing exhibitions of artist from all over the world…
So this week we have a group exhibition of six talented students from the art school in Paris! They are showing their impressive works - drawings, photographs, media works and installations - in the Design Festa EAST. All together they turn room E 303 into a perfect Nouveau Réalisme installation that reminds me of the french avantgarde of the 60ies. You should have a look on it…
Bon voyage!

Partybots is an organic screenprinting apparel business created by artist Karl Addison of Seattle. He came all the way to Tokyo in May this year to show his stuff at Design Festa Vol 27, and I managed to get a chance amongst all the of the craziness of the event to have a chat with him about his work. I was really impressed by how much effort he goes to in order to make his products environmentally friendly. Really fantastic! We’ve just had an email from him here at the Design Festa office and got to catch up on the latest - there are now 36 stores in the United States carrying his eco-friendly goods, so all of you in that part of the world keep an eye out! We also hear there’s an art show based on his trip to Japan coming up in August!
For all the latest information, check out his blog:

Weird and crazy weather… Were you caught in the squall? I hope you weren’t! It’s getting into really nice seson to drink outside, and we have started serving NEW SNACKS in our Garden Cafe!! As you can see on the picture, our gallery chef staff, Daisuke makes very nice plate with Edamame (classic otsumami for beer!), blue cheese & strawberry jam, raisin butter, spicy tuna dip and crackers. It costs just only 1000 yen including a bottle of beer (can be set with wine or sort drink, too) and I have to say this is super reasonable!! No other beer garden has such a great deal. I swear. Well, please try this plate set and have yourself chilled out in the summer breeze.
